History

June 28, 1989. Shiga Medical University of Science founded the Molecular Neurobiology Research Center. Establishment of Division of Neuroanatomy (Prof. Hiroshi Kimura, Assist. Prof. Ikuo Tooyama)
January 1, 1991. Establishment of Division of Neurochemistry (Prof. Kazumitsu Hanai, Assist. Prof.Yang)
June 28, 1992. Construction completion of Molecular Neurobiology Research Center
April 1, 1993. Establishment of Division of Biometrics (Prof. Toshiro Inubushi, Assoc.Prof. Shigehiro Morikawa)
April 1, 1999. Establishment of the Molecular Neuroscience Research Center (Reorganization of the Molecular Neurobiology Research Center).
Establishment of 5 research units.
April 1 2004. Biophysical Unit separated independently and became the Biomedical MR Science Center. The MNRC reorganized with 4 units.
April 1, 2009. Reorganization of MNRC and becoming Research Promotion Organization for Intractable Neurological Disease – Molecular Neuroscience Research Center with 5 units.
Prof. Hiroshi Kimura became the director of MNRC.
April 1, 2010. Prof. Ikuo Tooyama became the director of MNRC.
October 3, 2013. Holding the MNRC 25th Anniversary Symposium.
April 1, 2014. Incorporate the Biomedical MR Science Center as a Biomedical Magnetic Resonance Science Unit.
November 11, 2014. Dr. Masaki Nishimura became a full professor in MNRC.
April 1, 2016. Reorganization of MNRC and becoming Brain Disease Institute – Molecular Neuroscience Research Center, composed of Basic Neuroscience Research Unit (Professor Masaki Nishimura), Translational Research Unit (Professor Ikuo Tooyama) and Clinical Neuroscience Research Unit
Prof. Ikuo Tooyama became the director of MNRC.
July 1, 2016 Dr.Makoto Urushitani became a full professor at Clinical Neuroscience Research Unit in MNRC.
